Children need attention, and when they don\u2019t get it, they will act out, like I did.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 10%; padding-right: 10%; text-align: left;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Priscilla was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia with a father who was an alcoholic \u2014 in and out of jail for domestic abuse \u2014 and a mother who was a drug addict. After spending time in foster care during her childhood, Priscilla was placed in her aunt\u2019s custody at age 13.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-7182 size-full\" src=\"https:\/\/beta.homelessvoice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/WEB-Priscillas-Tent-Landscape-scaled.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"2560\" height=\"1896\" srcset=\"https:\/\/beta.homelessvoice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/WEB-Priscillas-Tent-Landscape-scaled.jpg 2560w, https:\/\/beta.homelessvoice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/WEB-Priscillas-Tent-Landscape-300x222.jpg 300w, https:\/\/beta.homelessvoice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/WEB-Priscillas-Tent-Landscape-1024x758.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/beta.homelessvoice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/WEB-Priscillas-Tent-Landscape-768x569.jpg 768w, https:\/\/beta.homelessvoice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/WEB-Priscillas-Tent-Landscape-1536x1137.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/beta.homelessvoice.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/WEB-Priscillas-Tent-Landscape-2048x1516.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 2560px) 100vw, 2560px\" \/><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 10%; padding-right: 10%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201c\u2018If you are going to sleep with a boy, get paid for it,\u2019\u201d Priscilla\u2019s aunt told her at 13 she says, teaching her the ins and outs of prostitution. \u201c\u2018Washcloths cost [money].\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"padding-left: 10%; padding-right: 10%;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After arrests for prostitution and escaping into drugs in her late teens, Priscilla found herself living on the street at 23. \u201cThere are strong-minded people, and then there are weak-minded people,\u201d she says. \u201cIt doesn\u2019t matter if you are living on the streets. Inside, there\u2019s a variety of food, beauty products, and supplies all neatly arranged and displayed \u2014 including a copy of the Brave Girls Holy Bible. One time, somebody pulled up and asked if anyone wanted to help lay sod. So, I did it. It doesn\u2019t matter if it only pays 50 bucks, that\u2019s money in your pocket. You can either sit around like some of these people out here looking crazy, or you can actually go out and try to do something with your life.
